Construction to our new facility is proceeding on schedule with a completion date of mid August. The actual move should start in September and fully operational in October. Our primary goal will be maintaining a minimum disruption to services and access to resources on campus. Keep in mind that most of our resources are available online via our web site.

Director's Message

I am very excited to have joined the Southwest family. Above all I am energized about becoming an integral part of the leadership for the library system. I hope all of you are as excited as I am about the new state of the art Library facility that is estimated to open in August of this year on the Freeman Campus. I extend an invitation to all of the Southwest community to visit any of the colleges’ excellent library facilities - campuses: Parrish, Freeman or sites: Gill, Southeast, and Whitehaven. I look forward to working with faculty, staff, students and the community as we explore ways to provide the very best customer service and resources. I encourage you to provide feedback regarding how the Library might better serve your needs. Feel free to call, email or just drop by and share any thoughts you have.

DVDs for the Holiday

Check out the new titles the Technical Services staff processed for the holiday: I Think I Love My Wife, Ratatouille, Meet the Robinsons, Premonition, Perfect Stranger and more. Movies checked out this week will be due back on December 19th.

Computer Usage

It has been noted on numerous occasions that there were problems with our managing the time customers were allowed to stay on the computers. To remedy this a new software will be installed to monitor the time and allow more people to have access. We realize this change may cause some hardship, but the need to manage our resources has become a priority. We hope to have this implemented by the start of the next semester. We are interested in your comments.

E-books

Did you know that Southwest has 5 ebooks collections? Read entire books online 24 hours a day. Our collections include NetLibrary, Safari Tech Books, Oxford Collection, Xrefer and Gale Virtual Reference Library. Let us know your feelings on this type of delivery.

Remote Access

Remote access is available using your Southwest username and password. Please promptly report problems so we can resolve the issue.
