Wellness Perspectives Introduction

Welcome to Wellness Perspectives. It has been said that the greatest improvements in health will come from what people do for themselves. You are your own best doctor.  In industrialized countries one of the major influences on health is lifestyle.  We make choices everyday.  We choose the food we eat, whether or not we are physically active, whether or not we use tobacco or alcohol products, whether or not we practice preventive health measures.

This course will cover a gamut of health issues – stress, nutrition, exercise, communicable diseases, personal safety, cancer, heart disease, and others.  As we go through each of these units you will do assessments of your attitudes and behaviors as they related to these topics.  The first step in developing a healthier life style is to identify those behaviors that need to be changed.  These assessments will help you to do that. 

This course is conducted online. Every week you will have textbook readings, chapter quizzes, and discussion topics to which you will post a response.
